A great overview of the history of education along with a basic analysis of Holistic education and it underlying prFree Schools, Free People: Education and Democracy After the 1960sinciples and thinkers.
I read this back in college. It is an excellent history of the development of American education. I now have a "used" copy in my classroom and recommend it to any of my high school students interested in education. I wish every teacher and parent would read this book! After 20 years, it is still one of my favorite education books.
